DELF / DALF vs TEF / TCF: what is the difference? These four French exams are often confused because they all assess French language skills. However, their objectives and purposes are different. DELF and DALF are French-language diplomas. They certify a level of French from A1 to C2 and demonstrate a candidate’s overall language proficiency. Once obtained, the diploma is valid for life. TEF and TCF are French-language tests. They assess a candidate’s level at a given moment and provide a test result rather than a lifelong diploma. They are frequently used for immigration, nationality, studies, or professional purposes, depending on the specific version of the test and the requirements of the institution or authority concerned.

But he checked himself in time, conscious above all that he was in the presence of matters deeper than he had yet ventured to fear, that there was more in it than anything he had explicitly admitted could account for—and he had thought himself no stranger to admissions: so that, not wishing to seem to understand where he could not accept, nor to seem to accept where he could not approve, and still less, with undue haste, to advise, he assumed the mere appearance of casting no weight whatever into the scales of his colleague’s decision.
