🇷🇺 «Я дома» and «Я в доме» look almost identical… but they don’t mean the same thing!
🏠 Я ДОМА.
→ I’m at home.
Here, дома means your home as a general place — where you live, your “base.”
— Где ты?
— Я дома.
→ Where are you?
→ I’m at home.
But…
🚪 Я В ДОМЕ.
→ I’m inside the house.
Here, you’re talking about your physical location inside a building.
For example:
— Ты во дворе?
— Нет, я в доме.
→ Are you in the yard?
→ No, I’m inside the house.
💡 Think of it this way:
ДОМА = at home 🏠
В ДОМЕ = inside the house 🚪
And yes — you can technically be дома, while sitting in your garden or standing outside your front door. 😄
