Extreme weather is occurring more and more frequently. First of all, we should respond to it positively mentally and ideologically. Secondly, we should take practical actions to do our best to make a difference. When extreme weather strikes again, we should try our best to avoid being harmed, and meanwhile do something meaningful.

🎬 Kansai Dialect in Anime Characters!
Today’s character 👀
Heiji Hattori from Detective Conan
Heiji is famous for speaking Kansai dialect!
You may hear expressions like:
「〜やで」
「〜やん」
「ほんま?」
But...
🤔 Do people in Osaka really talk like this?
🗣️ 「ほんま」
Standard Japanese: 本当(ほんとう)
Meaning: really / true
ほんま?
= Really?
👉 Yes! This is actually commonly used in everyday conversation.
🗣️ 「〜やん」
Standard Japanese: 〜じゃん
Meaning: ~, isn't it? / ~, right?
これ、おいしいやん!
= This is really good!
👉 Yes! People actually use this in everyday conversation too.
🗣️ 「〜やで」
Similar to: 〜だよ
Meaning: ~, you know / ~, you know?
明日(あした)休(やす)みやで。
= Tomorrow is a holiday, you know.
👉 This is also used in Kansai, but it's casual, so you wouldn't normally use it in formal situations.
👀 So, is Heiji's Kansai dialect realistic?
The answer: Yes, pretty realistic! 🙆♀️
Of course, he's an anime character, so some expressions may sound more strongly Kansai than what you'd hear in everyday conversation.
But many of the expressions he uses are actually used by people in Kansai! 😊
🌸 Have you heard any Kansai dialect in anime?
If you've ever wondered:
“Do Japanese people actually say this?”
Let me know! 👀

**Quick English tip**: Sometimes several sentences are understandable or even correct, but one sounds more natural to a native speaker.
Your friend is visiting your city. You want to suggest going to a restaurant together.
Which sounds more natural?
Do you want to go to that restaurant tonight?
Do you want going to that restaurant tonight?
Do you want that we go to that restaurant tonight?
Do you want to going to that restaurant tonight?

Why IELTS & test scores ≠ speaking confidence
Have you ever wondered why you can do well on an English test, but still feel stuck when you're having a real conversation?
You're not alone. This is a frustration I hear quite often.
I like to think of it like football. ⚽
IELTS is the training ground. Social English is a friendly match.
When you train, you practise specific skills again and again. You work on your passing, shooting and dribbling until they become familiar.
But in a friendly match, you don't know exactly what's going to happen. You have to react, communicate, make decisions and keep going when things don't go according to plan.
And that's where the fun begins.
You play with other people. You make connections. You have good games and bad games. You win, you lose, you make mistakes, you laugh — and sometimes you surprise yourself with what you can do.
All of that is valuable.
Speaking English in everyday life is much the same.
IELTS preparation gives you valuable skills — vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation and ways to organise your ideas. But a real conversation asks you to use all of these in the moment.
Someone changes the subject. You forget a word. You have to explain yourself differently. You want to tell a story, make a joke or disagree.
And you might suddenly think:
“I know the words. Why aren't they coming out?”
If you've experienced this, don't be too hard on yourself. You may simply have spent a lot of time training, but not enough time playing.
Because eventually, the goal isn't just to know how English works.
It's to use it to share your views and interests, have fun, and connect with other people.
