"人- rén" is a pictogram. visually represents a person standing. The traditional form of the character is “亻”(单人旁 - Dān rén páng ) when used as a radical in other characters, such as "你 - Nǐ " (you) or "他 - Tā " (he).

"人- rén" primarily means "person" or "human." It can also be used to denote someone belonging to a certain group or nationality, as in "美国人-Měi guó rén" (American) or "中国人-Zhōng guó rén " (Chinese).
