#14 Meeting Your Malayali In-Laws — The First Twenty Minutes, in Malayalam
الوصف
Your first visit to your in-laws' house. You are being assessed, kindly but thoroughly, on effort and respect.
Malayalam gives you exact tools for this visit. You learn നമസ്കാരം for day one, the kinship words you should use from the doorstep (yes, you call your mother-in-law അമ്മേ), what to do when told to come in and sit, and the compliment on the house. You also learn why you accept the tea, how to praise the cooking to the cook, and how to say you are full.
Words and phrases in this class:
നമസ്കാരം (namaskaaram) – respectful greeting
അമ്മേ (amme) – Amma (to your mother-in-law)
അച്ഛാ (achchaa) – Achan (to your father-in-law)
