Constantin Mihai

Constantin is completely proficient in Latin, which does not cease to amaze me, and he's very good at rephrasing or explaining what I don't initially understand, all without using a word of English! It's also fun to just chat with him about anything!

Μιχαὴλ εὗρον πέρυσι ἐσπουδκὼς πολλὰ ἤδη ἔτη περὶ τῆς ἑλληνικῆς γλώσσης καὶ βουλόμενος μελετᾶν τὸ διαλέγεσθαι. ὁ δὲ Μιχαὴλ ἄρτι ἐφαίνετό μοι σπουδαιότατος καὶ ἐπιεικὴς ὤν, διδάσκων ὁτιοῦν ἔχει ἄσμενως μετὰ ἐλευθερίας τε καὶ φιλίας. μὴ οὖν ἀπορεῖ, ὦ ἀναγινώσκων, εἰ οἷός τε καὶ σύ μανθάνειν τὸ ἑλληνιστὶ διαλέγεσθαι. μὴ δὲ θαύμαζε εἰ, πολὺν ἤδη χρόνον ἀνηλωκὼς μάτην ἄλλῃ σπουδάζων περὶ τῆς γλώσσης, καλέσας “advanced” καίπερ οὐκ ἔχων τι τῷ ὄντι λέγειν, τοῦ Μιχαὴλ ὀλίγον χρόνον διδάσκοντος, ἐξαίφνης δείνος ἑλληνίζειν γίνῃ. ἔχων γὰρ τὸν Μιχαὴλ ὡς διδάσκαλον, μαθήσει εὐθέως, ἐάν τοι ὁ Θεός - καὶ σύ αὐτός - ἐθέλῃ!

Another great lesson. I can't stress enough how helpful these classes are in really internalizing Ancient Greek. Having just finished a lesson, the language feels like it is already more "really in my head" than ever before; I just spoke to my wife and almost instinctively began using Ancient Greek! τοῦτο δὲ μάλα ἀρέσκει μοι!

Great way to have fun each week for lower than the cost of one meal in a restaurant in nearly all of Vancouver.

Professional and kind man. Different to the rigor of a normal Latin class. Hoping Latin stays challenging (part of the great appeal of learning Latin, the "torture" of memorizing the conjugations and vocabulary and the stress of timed translation tests. Constantin don't take away all that fun stuff!)
