Salve/Χαῖρε! I’m Lucas from Rosario, Argentina. I teach the languages I love most: Latin and Ancient Greek. My favorite hobbies are studying math, reading or listening to topics related to the ancient Greeks, science, theology, Jewish/Christian culture. I am also very skeptical of Hume's critic of miracle because, despite being a colossal nerd, I landed a girlfriend. My goal is to form you into a literate citizen of Rome or Athens—grounded in grammar—rather than merely a clever, uneducated native. I specialize in teaching Latin and Ancient Greek through the natural method, emphasizing immersion and fluency. However, unlike modern languages, my focus is not on spoken conversation for daily use—instead, I prioritize deep textual understanding and grammatical precision. **Wondering if I’m the right tutor for you?** If you're deciding between tutors, here’s what I offer: I explain things clearly—and in multiple ways if needed—so you *will* understand the language. I think I do a good job at finding what are exactly your weak points *and* bring effective material to strengthen those aspects. I’m no “expert,” but I value precision. I have been studying with Lucas A. for a few months now, and we're able to hold conversations in Latin like two friends catching up on life. In our first session, I could barely mutter out what my name was or where I was from, even though I had read Familia Romana and Wheelock's. Now, although I still stutter here and there, my Latin has immensely improved, and I can confidently say that I can speak it. Lucas is patient, caring, and deeply knowledgeable. He has resources, and he knows how to tailor the lesson to your needs. I look forward to the next few months of pushing my fluency to the next level.
