【Task 2 question*Family】
People in many countries are spending less time with their families. What are the reasons and effects of this?
[Reasons]
・Modern lifestyle
One primary reason is the increasing demands of modern lifestyles, where individuals often find themselves engaged in hectic work schedules, long commutes, and various social or personal commitments. To maintain a modern lifestyle similar to those around us, people have no option but to reduce the time spent with their families.
・Smartphones, social media
Another possible reason is the pervasive influence of technology, particularly smartphones and social media. These technologies can also contribute to a decrease in face-to-face family time, as people become immersed in virtual interactions.
[Effects]
・family ties weaken
The effects of reduced family time weaken family bonds and relationships. Regular communication and quality time spent together are crucial for fostering strong connections, understanding, and support within a family unit. As a result, there is a risk that when genuine mutual support within the family is truly needed, family bonds may no longer function effectively.
・Child development
Diminished family time can have implications for the upbringing of children. Quality family time is essential for children's emotional and social development. Children can explore various things because they have a secure base provided by their families. Therefore, if they lack a family support system, there is a concern that more children may turn to dependence on smartphones and social media.
[In conclusion]
・In the short term, spending a lot of time on things other than family means enjoying modern life and the latest technology.
・In the long term, losing family bonds are significant adverse impact on the emotional well-being of family members and child development
