The importance of the topic CULTURAL AWARENESS cannot be overestimated! It is highly desirable to possess extensive knowledge of various cultures from all over the world if you are eager to climb the career ladder, make new friends and, in general, keep an open mind and avoid embarrasing situations. The lesson that I have devised will not only contribute to improving your General English as well as Business English skills, but it will also raise your cultural awareness, which is no less beneficial. LESSON STRUCTURE: 1) introducing your own culture to the team members; 2) learning astounding facts about countries across the globe; 3) identifying potential pitfalls and stumbling blocks typical of MULTI-NATIONAL teams at work. FORMAT: The lesson incorporates the following MODES of interaction: pairwork, teamwork, whole-group and teacher-student communication. ACTIVITIES: The session includes a discussion, a PowerPoint presentation, a debate, a 3-minute-long video, a role play (if there's enough time).

By the end of the session, the attendees will have a) significantly raised their cultural awareness; b) discovered plenty of eye-opening facts about foreign customs and traditions; c) discussed the upsides and downsides of working in multi-national teams; d) practised the skill of DEBATING; e) learnt useful topic-specific words; f) enjoyed every single minute of the session :)
