In these lessons students will participate in a range of formal debates on the topic of Technology. Each lesson will focus on a particular language skill. I will provide you with tasks to complete before the lesson and feedback after the debate. In this lesson we will debate the Statement: “Social Media has had an overall negative impact on human society” We will focus on ‘Snappy Introductions'. A ‘snappy intro’ is an exciting, engaging introduction that captures the attention of your audience. Usually it makes them think, or maybe evokes emotions. Whatever it does, your aim is to bring your presentation (or debate/statement etc.) to life and make it exciting! When you book the lesson you will receive a PDF document including: - Background information on the topic (videos, Articles etc.) that will be useful for the debate - An outline of the lesson structure so you can prepare - Details about the debate format - Pre-class tasks to complete that will help you in the lesson After the lesson you will receive feedback from the teacher. These lessons are designed for you to take an active role in your language development. You should try to do some research and read the documents provided before the lesson, and then use our time in class to put what you have read and learnt into practice. These lessons will require you to actively listen to others points of view, formulate your own response and support your views and opinions with relevant details and examples. Each task will require you to not only speak about specific, intellectual topics, but also adapt your language to be persuasive and convincing. You will focus on making your introduction as clear, concise and 'snappy' as possible. I will provide you with feedback after the lesson.
