I began teaching in 2004 at a Waldorf school in southern England. I taught a variety of humanities, including German, English, and French. I have also worked in translations for many years, which has helped me to learn the subtleties of expression in the languages I use. I believe in learning naturally, without studying rules and structure (none of us do this with our first language, after all!). I have always enjoyed seeing progress in others, and facilitating this in an effortless way is something I find very rewarding. I have also taught theatre, as well as worked with disadvantaged young people, focusing on motivation, self-esteem and self-confidence.

Me gusta que mis clases contengan una dosis de gramática, pero busco que no sean pesadas o agobiantes. Trato de enlazar los temas estudiados con la cultura y con ejemplos prácticos. También investigo sobre temas nuevos o intereses de mis alumnos. Desde este punto de vista siempre en mis experiencias vividas en área de la docencia, he aprendido que el mejor mecanismo para la enseñanza, es interactuar didácticamente y con métodos que provoquen el interés del alumno, de manera tal que se sienta cómodo aprendiendo y así poder establecer un vinculo con él, así la enseñanza brindara sus frutos y el alumno va a estar contento de haber aprendido el español de manera sencilla y practica cumpliendo de esta forma con los objetivos planteados.

As mentioned, I believe having a native grasp in both English and Spanish is an advantage. It allows me to easily translate idiomatic concepts and expressions that don’t have literal equivalent from one language to the other. I can draw meaning from my native understanding of both languages (and my experience in using both in daily life) to find the right examples and the closest translations from the source to the target language. I studied linguistics and, even though it is generally not required for a language teacher to be trained in linguistics, there is a growing number of experts in the community who believe it's a huge plus. I've drawn countless knowledge from it to teach.
