“I’m not actually a huge fan of TV, but there is one show that I do enjoy watching every weekend. It’s called _______ idol, which is a hugely popular reality show, where aspiring singers compete against each other for a shot at fame, or even a record contract.




The show is on every Sunday night at about 8pm, and I normally watch it at home with my family.




Young people who dream of being a famous singer, can have the chance to be chosen to perform on the show in front of judges who select the best performers. Later on the public can also get involved, and vote for their favourite singer by phone or online, and the singer with the most votes becomes the winner.




One of the things I love about this show is that it gives any Joe Bloggs off the street, not only a genuine chance to show off their talent, but to also have a shot at fame.




I think we all dream of what it might be like to be a star, and this show really opens doors for some of these dreamers, if of course they have the talent.




On top of that, it’s a lot of fun watching the early stages of the show, and passing judgement on the different contestants as well as supporting the best singers, as if I had discovered them myself.

日本は朝晩涼しくなってきて、秋が近づいてきましたよ。
そして、しばらく更新できておらず申し訳ございませんでした。夏休みに入って息子の病気や連休などがあり、podcastをお休みしておりました。今日は前回に引き続き、日本の教育制度や学校生活についてお話します。みなさんが学校で一番楽しみだったことは何ですか？
日本の学校生活の中で、みんなが最も楽しみにしている時間は恐らく「給食の時間」でしょう。私が小学生・中学生だった時は、大食いで食べることが好きだったので、給食の時間がとても待ち遠しかったのを覚えています。時には余った人気の給食メニューを巡ってケンカする生徒もいました。今日はみんなが大好きな日本の給食についてお話します。本日のフレーズは「バラツキがある」です。意味を知らない人はどういう意味か想像しながら聞いてみてくださいね。

日本の給食の起源は、1889年にさかのぼります。山形県のとある小学校で生活が苦しい家庭の子どもに無償で昼食を用意したことが始まりです。1923年には国に奨励され、全国的に給食が広まりましたが、その後、戦争による食料不足などを理由に中止せざるを得なくなってしまいます。戦後の1954年に「学校給食法」が成立し、児童の栄養状態を改善するため、法的な実施体制が整いました。1日に必要な栄養素の約3分の1が取れるように、バランスのいいメニューが提供されました。時代や地域によって多少異なりますが、主食、肉または魚のおかず、野菜のおかず、牛乳はほぼ必ず出ていました。私が小学生・中学生だった約15-25年前は、主食、おかず2種類、汁物、デザート、牛乳が出て、日本食に限らず、洋食や季節の料理、地域の料理も出ました。2009年からは、私の時代からもっとパワーアップし、食育を意識したメニューになっているようです。オリンピックやG20などの国際的なイベントに合わせて、様々な国の料理が出されるようになっています。

2018年の全国の給食の実施率は小学校で99.1%、中学校で89.9%でした。月額4,300円～5,000円で1食あたり200円-250円です。世帯収入が低い場合は無償です。

様々な国で給食が提供されていると思いますが、日本の提供スタイルは少し独特だと思います。
まず給食が作られている場所は、学校内、または地域の給食センターです。給食の時間になるとクラスの約6人の給食当番が教室に運ばれてきた給食カートから料理を取り出し、クラス全員に料理をよそいます。基本的には全員が教室で同じメニューを食べます。先生も同じ教室で給食を食べます。余ったらおかわりすることができるので、女子では珍しく、私は毎日のようにおかわりをしていました。

なんといっても日本の給食の良いところは、全員がバランスのいいメニューを食べれることです。高校からはお弁当を持ってきたり、食堂で食べたりするのが普通なのですが、お弁当の場合は、弁当のクオリティーにバラツキがあり、からかわれることもしばしば。毎日栄養満点で様々な料理を食べれるのは、本当にありがたいことだと思います。

Disneyland Paris has launched a new light show called Disney Tales of Magic, an immersive 20-minute show that uses drones, synchronized fountains, and high-definition projections.

The show's main feature — ultra-bright lasers — has been used only once before, at the Paris 2024 Olympics at the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony featuring a performance by Celine Dion. The lasers, which travel 37 kilometers, deliver extraordinary power while remaining safe near crowds.

"The Paris Olympics used it first. But we saw it first," said Dana Harrel, executive entertainment director at Disneyland Paris.

The show brings Disney and Pixar tales to life with the use of drone-made 3D figures projected onto the night sky, synchronized fountains and a 100-piece orchestra.

The show also reflects Disney's storytelling evolution. Tim Lutkin, artistic director of the production, noted the shift from classic fairy tales to modern narratives like Encanto and Inside Out 2, which explore deeper themes such as anxiety and depression.

The show is just one part of Disneyland Paris' $2 billion expansion plan, part of a $60 billion global investment announced in September 2023, aiming to redefine Disney parks, cruises and attractions over the next decade.

At the heart of the expansion is the transformation of Walt Disney Studios Park, doubling in size and reimagined as Disney Adventure World. Opening in spring 2025, a new park entrance, World Premiere, will greet visitors with the glamor of a Hollywood film premiere, leading them into immersive themed areas.

The expansion includes two eagerly awaited themed lands: The World of Frozen, opening in 2026, and The Lion King land. The Disneyland Hotel has also been revamped, with rooms themed around classic Disney royalty.

"These projects reflect our commitment to innovation and storytelling," said Natacha Rafalski, head of Disneyland Paris, adding that they will further strengthen it as Europe's top tourist destination.
