NOVELA LA HIJA DE LA ESPAÑOLA - PARTE 1

Cojutepeque:
Se encuentra a 28 km al oriente de San Salvador, en las faldas del Cerro de las Pavas.
El pueblo de Cojutepeque es uno de los más antiguos de El Salvador, existiendo en tiempos precolombinos desde que migrantes nahuas se establecieran en cantón cujuapa el arenal y cantón ojo de agua base de asentamientos nahuas

La palabra Cojutepeque es de origen Náhuat 
Esta localidad, la más importante del departamento de Cuzcatlán, fue fundada por indios yaquis o pipiles. El nombre Cojutepeque viene de dos voces o raíces del idioma nahuat, a saber: coju, pava; tepec, cerro, montaña, localidad donde kuyut: coyote y tepet: cerro, significando realmente Cerro de coyotes.

Gastronomía
Reconocida por su variedad de embutidos,
En Cojutepeque encontrará varios platillos típicos, pero los más conocidos son sus embutidos (chorizos, butifarras y salchichones), que acostumbran a vender mujeres al paso de los autobuses interurbanos que transitan por la Carretera Panamericana.

Los chorizos de Cojutepeque son bien conocidos en todo el país: de hecho, es posible comprarles en muchas ciudades de El Salvador, y no solamente en Cojutepeque. Los chorizos son hechos de carne de cerdo, carne de res, sal, especias y hierbas, achiote, sal de cura, y otros preservantes.

"Adentro Cojutepeque" es una canción escrita y compuesta en 1942 por el cantante y compositor salvadoreño Francisco Palaviccini, creador del género autóctono xuc.Fue compuesta debido a la celebración de las Fiestas de la Caña de Azúcar del municipio de Cojutepeque.
