道冲，而用之或不盈。渊兮，似万物之宗：挫其锐，解其纷；和其光，同其尘。湛兮，似或存。吾不知谁之子，象帝之先。

这几句话是什么意思呢？

规律是空虚而没有形态的，如果遵循着他办事，也许就不会要求把事情办得完美无缺。规律是那样的深远而复杂，好象是万物的根源：他消磨去万物的锋芒，从而融解文明之间的纷争；调和它们的长处，从而使它们都不那样完美。规律是无有形态，是隐没的，但又实际存在着。我不知道它是如何传下来的，只知道它出现在上帝之前。

这一章又讲了玄妙的道，也翻译成万物自然的规律。What is the rule of the vast universe in his eyes? 这个规律可以消磨万物的锋芒，也就是让一切都圆融和平。能够让一切都不那样完美，缓解大家的纷争。If you can look closely with discerning eyes, everything is not perfect in this world. This is why we are able to understand others.

These various expressions for affirmation encompass a wide range of tones and levels of formality. In everyday conversation, a simple "yes" or "yeah" suffices, and a touch of informality may be added with "sure" or "absolutely." When assurance is absolute, phrases like "without a doubt, yes" and "most definitely" leave no room for ambiguity. In informal settings, a resounding agreement might be expressed with "you bet" or "hell yeah," and a casual "totally" or "yup" carries a similar sentiment. For matters necessitating decorum, a formal approach may entail phrases like "I wholeheartedly agree" or "indeed," while "I concur" and "affirmative" maintain a level of professionalism. Politeness sweetens the agreement in expressions such as "I'd be happy to" and "that sounds wonderful," demonstrating eagerness to comply. A touch of wit adds a layer of humor to the affirmation, as seen in expressions like "in a New York minute" or "is the Pope Catholic?" In more refined circles, the upper class might communicate their agreement with endearing phrases like "absolutely, my dear" or "most assuredly," maintaining a level of warmth. For royalty, an affirmation is conveyed with grace and respect, as in "by all means, Your Majesty" or "it would be my honor, Your Highness," underscoring the formal nature of the response. Ultimately, the choice of expression hinges on the context and the level of decorum required for the situation at hand.

Can You Say That Again

In recent years, we have been encouraged to reduce the amount of meat we eat — for health reasons and to help protect the environment.

Red meat, in particular, has been shown to increase the risk of some health problems, while the farming of cows for food has a negative impact on the planet.

And these days, restaurants around the world that have traditionally focused on meat-based meals, including places like McDonald's and KFC, have begun to add more plant-based choices to their menus.

But the question some people are asking is: Can I eat less meat and still be healthy?

According to 2022 research, the answer could be "yes."

Researchers in Italy and Spain compared studies on the health benefits of animal proteins and plant-based or vegetable proteins.

We all need protein in our diets, wherever it comes from.

Plant-based or vegetable proteins include things like chickpeas, beans and nuts, as well as broccoli, kale and tofu.

And the study found that vegetable proteins can reduce the risk of things like heart disease and strokes, compared to animal proteins.

The researchers said that animal and vegetable proteins had similar effects on muscle and bone health.

However, they did find that vegetable or plant-based proteins might not give quite enough vitamin B12, although they were not able to explain why the two proteins have different effects on the body.

The researchers added that the lower environmental impact of plant-based proteins was too important to forget.

The health of the planet, they said, cannot be separated from the health of our bodies.
