What do we do for Spring Festival?

If you’re learning English in order to better your job prospects, the chances are that at some point you’re going to need to understand and employ a more specialised vocabulary.

Working in a business environment will expose you to a raft of new words that don’t tend to be covered by standard English as a Foreign Language courses. In this episode, I will explain some of the words and phrases you can expect to hear in an office, including both official terms and the so-called “office jargon” that has crept into use in the 21st-century workplace.

 For example, yesterday I wanted sugar and bought flour.
 Now I know that coffee with flour isn’t tasty.

ヨーロッパではサマータイムが始まりました。時間が1時間進んだので日本とドイツの時差は7時間になりました。
サマータイムとは太陽が出ている明るい時間を有効に使うための制度です。
しかし、サマータイムに対する反対意見もたくさんあり、EUは2021年でサマータイムを廃止することにしました。しかし、なぜか今年もサマータイムを続けるそうです。
私は海外にいる生徒とのオンラインレッスンがあるので、サマータイムが始まる前は時間がずれていないかどうかとても心配になります。ヨーロッパに住んでいる人の中には「ここ数日寝不足です」という人もいるかもしれません。私も昨日と今日よく眠れませんでした。
みなさんはサマータイムについてどう思いますか？

サマータイム (Summer Time)

Richard Floyd McCoy, arrested six months after the DB Cooper hijacking, displayed striking similarities in his own hijacking, demanding $500,000 and parachutes in a manner reminiscent of Cooper. However, McCoy's escape was short-lived as the FBI found him with cash and parachutes, leading to a 45-year prison sentence. Some believe McCoy and Cooper may be the same person. Sheridan Peterson, a Boeing employee and skilled skydiver, drew suspicion due to a physical resemblance and remained a suspect until his death in 2021. Eric Ulis, an amateur sleuth, was 98% convinced of Peterson's involvement. Another suspect, Robert Rackstraw, an army veteran and helicopter pilot, became a late '70s suspect but never explicitly denied being Cooper. However, Rackstraw's age in 1971 contradicts the reported age of Cooper at the time.
