What worked for me and recommend my students is to watch movies or TV series you are really familiar with in English like “Star wars” or friends, movies you know by heart. Also, add the Spanish subtitles, this will help you with your listening a lot.

Yes, this is what I did when I was learning Spanish: 1) When you watch tv or a movie, sit with a notebook and a pen in your lap. 2) For every word that you recognize in the dialogue, make a mark on the paper. 3) It is okay if you do not know the meaning of every word you hear. You want to focus on hearing the words as independent units, instead of a stream of random sounds. So if you recognize a word, but you don't know its meaning, you can still count it on your paper. 4) After the show, count all the marks you made on the paper. Write the total number in the corner. The next day, do this again. You can compare numbers over time and watch your listening improve. 5) For common words, like "Como" or "porque" or "esta", you can give them a section of the page where you write them out first and put marks next to it. So you will know how many times you heard that common word. This works well because you don't need to look at the paper while you do it. You can keep your eyes on the tv. Good luck!
