is fraud different from fraudulent? like an act is fraudulent but is not a fraud thing also, are people strict with the use of fraud and scam? like sometimes, it might actually be a scam and I call it fraud; sometimes it's a fraud, and I call it scam - would people say you're claiming the wrong thing if it's just one of the two I mean, fraud and scam are in the same categories and can have nuanced difference in very specific cases

Fraud is the noun. Fraudulent is the adjective. So it was a fraud. It was fraudulent behaviour. A scam nearly always involves money An e-mail telling you that you’ve won a prize but first you must send them some money to claim it etc. We use fraud more widely in English. It also can refer to money but we use it as well to describe somebody who deceives. My friend’s boyfriend cheated on her...what a fraud he is. Fraud is a bigger and wider category of wrongdoing than a scam. A scam therefore belongs to the broader category of fraud. I’m a genuine italki teacher and not a fraud lol, so I hope you believe my answer! And as I didn’t ask you for money to help you, there’s not a scam involved either ;)
