FYI… pronunciate is not a word.
FYI means for your information.
I have often heard English learners say “pronunciate”, rather than pronounce.
I do not know where or how they learned or guessed that pronunciate might be a legitimate verb.
My search of the following online dictionaries unanimously indicated that the word pronunciate was “Not Listed”:
Meriam-Webster, Cambridge, Oxford Advanced Leaners Dictionary, Oxford Lexico, Longman, Collins, Macmillan, and The American Heritage Dictionary.
Perhaps, as has been suggested, it’s simply a hybrid of pronounce and enounce.
I can easily imagine that the learners may believe that pronunciate is the logical derivative of the noun pronunciation. After all:
– graduation leads to graduate
– accommodation leads to accommodate
- orientation leads to orientate (British)
– mutation leads to mutate, and
– enunciation leads to enunciate
So, why wouldn’t pronunciation lead to pronunciate?
If you have used pronunciate in the past, I suggest you stop using it and use pronounce instead.
This tip cost you nothing, but I hope it was worth more than nothing... keep smiling

Layla... I agree it does sound reasonable, but the truth is that it is not a word. We already have the verb pronounce, so we don't need to use pronunciate.
Thank you for your good comments.

It sounds like a mistake I personally would make. After all, irregularity is part of what characterizes Language.
Good to "hear" from you again, Richard.

I've never heard someone saying "pronanciate" however, it sounds reasonable for me as a non native English speaker. 😆
