Hi for everyone! Could anyone help me with the question please? Can I use 'being' instead of 'getting' in the following sentence The possibility of getting seriously injured while performing these activities is quite high If I can, please explain what is the slight difference in meaning? Thanks a lot for helping in advance!

В Вашем случае «getting injured» будет означать что-то вроде «получать травму» таким образом предложение говорит, что человек может травмироваться; когда «being injured» в Вашем предложении будет означать то, что человек выполняет действие уже будучи травмированным.

Being is more immediate. Getting, is a bit more distant in the future. Others may have a different opinion, but for me, it’s how I use them

The first focuses on the action , the other on the state. If you say that the possibility of getting injured is high whilst performing, you are saying that whilst performing you can get an injury- you can become injured.( focus on event, consequence, event) Therefore, if you want to clearly state the consequence you would use ‘get’ as this is more logical in this context. When you use ‘being’ you emphasise the state of being injured. Consider this: I thing your chances of getting pregnant are slim ( you emphasise the action of getting pregnant) I think your chances of being pregnant are slim ( you emphasise a state of being pregnant)
