Today I scrolled through some shopping websites as I wanted to buy a shoulder bag for next term. While I already own several shoulder bags, of different designs and sizes, I just couldn't help myself longing for more. Every time I get a new one, I am deeply gratified. Yet the gratification wanes over time, and it seems that only a shiny new replacement can stir the same kind of emotion again. At the same time, I am also a somewhat thrifty person, rarely spending a lot of money on things that don't last long ( maybe except food), or things that are of little practical value. So at this moment, half of me is telling me I should seize the moment and reward myself with the pleasure of carrying the bag of my dreams. After all, what is the point of earning if you don't have a chance to spend it? The other half of me, however, is cautioning me against wasteful spending. It keeps reminding me that my old bags are in good condition. Why do I need to add more stuff to my already cramped room? Well, maybe I need to wait, wait until I have enough money to buy (rent?) a more spacious room while at the same time not feeling guilty about splurging on a branded bag which is of good quality but surely overpriced.
