I am not a hard working person: I like playing, I don't like thinking a lot. I like sleeping. I don't want to work for a long time. I tend to use simple words but I admire people using fancy words. I want to change myself for sure. However, I failed and failed and cannot keep the changing for months or years (I did succeed in some things but it is not enough to be really proud of. My best friend said "Be yourself! If you cannot change, let it be!". I don't know which is right but what I know is that I never give up changing myself for better.

However, I failed and could not keep the change for months or years (I did succeed in some things but it is not enough to be really proud of. My best friend said, "Be yourself! I am not a hard working person: I like to play, and I don't like to think a lot. I like sleeping. I don't want to work long hours. I tend to use simple words but I admire people when they use fancy ones. I want to change myself, for sure. However, my attempts to change have failed again and again, and I find it hard to keep up the effort for months or years. (I did succeed with some changes but not enough to make myself really proud.) My best friend said "Be yourself! If you cannot change, so be it!". I don't know the right way, but what I do know is that I will never give up on changing myself for the better.
Good work, Molly. I changed some of your present participles to infinitives ("playing", "thinking"). Infinitives and participles are often interchangeable and there is no rule to tell you which one to use. However, it does sound better if you use a few of each. It is better to mix them. If you use only participles, it starts to sound repetitious: "playing, thinking, sleeping". Keep the participle form where you want to convey a sense of continuity ("sleeping" - you want that to last a long time!)
