Hello everyone!
I am a biginner in French and I'm a bit confused abou the expression "mon amie".
Is it used for both women and men?
Is it wrong or does it have a different meaning if I say "mon ami" or "ma amie"?

"Mon ami" and "Mon amie" sound the same when you are speaking, but "mon ami" refers to a guy friend, while "mon amie" refers to a girl friend (uma amiga, that is). You will always use mon, ton or son instead of ma, ta, sa as a possessive adjective before a singular noun that starts with a vowel --even if that noun is feminine.

Hi ana !
We use "mon ami" for male
And we use "mon amie" for female .
It's the same prononciation the difference is the "e" that we write if you're talkin to a woman

Bonjour,
You would say 'mon' both with masucline and feminin word that starts with a vowel. It's just not comfortable for the French to pronounce two vowels together like 'ma amie' and in such case you use the masculin possessif: mon - so mon ami (he) and mon amie (she), the spelling is different, but the prononciation is the same. It will be the same for son et ton. You will understand from the context wether the person is talking about a girl or a boy.
