There are words that I just fall in love with-- either because of the meaning or because of the way they feel or make you feel as they pass through your lips. Here are some of mine, please teach me some of yours and we will all build our vocabularies.
Añoranza- longing
La ausencia- absence
Saudade- a Portugese word that refers to a feeling of longing or melancholy
Transcend- to overcome or rise above circumstances
Jaime
My favorite word on that list is definately añoranza. I always liked esperanza and alegría as well.
When i used to write poetry in high school, I had a whole list of pretty words that I got from a thesaurus!
@Guillaume, I think "compenetración" is a lovely word! I'm really happy to know that there is a word for that. In English you just have to try to explain it like, "we just get each other... you know?" haha
@Guillaume, I really love the idea of "compenetración". And it is really fun to say. Thank you for sharing both of those words.
Jaime
Nice list. Saudade has become a catchall word, I mean that the meaning has been built over the years and now it can mean everything.
Mi favorite french word is dulçaquicole (something that lives or raises in fresh water).
I also love the meaning of "compenetración" which means a mutual penetration, when two people have a deep and powerful mind conexion.
