A question about -te form

So I'm studying the -te form of the japanese verbs. But.. how can I distinguish the -ru godan verbs from the -re ichidan verbs?

Hi Alex,

I'm not bilingual, and nor Japanese nor English is my mother tongue.

Tsukaru is a ~ru verb and is not probable that a beginner knows about it. Maybe you meant "tsukau", which is a ~u verb.

Sometimes you must remember what type the verb is. Not always you will be able to tell from the dictionary form. You can use edict. It has a code (v1, v5r, v5m...) which tells what type the verb is. Edict has a lot of useful information about grammar. You can check the meaning of those codes here. http://rut.org/cgi-bin/j-e/edict

Hello!

I'll write in romanji since I still have no japanese keyboard on PC.

Okiru (-ru verb) > Okite (-te form)

But, for example:

Tsukaru it's a -u verbs, but it ends with -ru, so I should add -tte. Tsukatte.

My question is: how can I distinguish when a verb is -ru group or - u group when they have the same ending?
