What are your motivations to learn English or a new language?

I began learning English at junior high school, and I did really bad at the first 2 years. But at that time, I didn't hate English because of my poor scores at school. I listend to English songs and saw many Hollywood films very frequently every day, since they were very interesting to me.

 

My English began to improve when I was at grade 3, and it kept at peak performance since then. I chose Business English as my major at university, and worked 2 years for international business.

 

Later I had a chance to take care of projects for imported machines, and began to work with Italians. I thought "English is the world language", but I was wrong. It's difficult to communicate with Italian technicians in English, unless you use Google Translate. Then I began to learn Italian and made lots of friends with them.

 

Now I may go to Vietnam for some business trips in the near future. My hometown is Guangxi province, and it's directly connected with Vietnam. I've heard a lot about Vietnam since I was kid. Now I'm very curious about this country, and hope to learn my 3rd foreign language - Vietnamese. 

 

In very few words, my motivation to learn a new language is personal interest and needs. What about yours?

I'm glad to hear that you learned italian, which is my native tounge.

Personally, I'm learning english both for need and for pleasure. On the other hand I begun to learn spanish just for pleasure. I want to learn more others languages too.                                                                                                                   Keep on with you language's studies and good luck with your job.

Your article is relly motivate me, about the reason why I learn language, at the beginning it was only for the job because learning English will help me in my present job but at this time I realise that learning languages benefits is not limited only on one aspect, learning language will help you to improve even you mentality.

By the way, my motivations to learn a new language (for me is english) is ..to communicate with people from other countries. I like meeting people around the world and knowing about their culture. On the other hand, learning English helps me approach more unbelievable informations.

I like learning languages especially if I like its pop culture. For example, I listen to a lot of music from Denmark, Germany, Finland, and Italy. That is why I am learning those languages.

In high school, I studied Latin for four years, but I hated it. Latin is useful if you want to read ancient texts, but for me it was just very boring. If Latin had catchy pop songs or interesting movies, I'm sure I would have liked it a lot more.
