How does the English use of "got"/"get" translate into Indonesian?
The words "got" or "get" are used often in English, but I am having a hard time figuring out how they translate to Indonesian.  For example, how would I say the following?:

He got his friend killed.

He got his pool fixed.

Call her and get her to write a letter.

They are going to get themselves in trouble.

Well, how would you rephrase the sentences without "got/get"? :) That would be a step in the right direction.

For example, "He arranged for his pool to be fixed."

There's no need to struggle with direct-translating such a nebulous word as get when you can convey the same meaning in another way.

There is no exact translation for get/got. We simply need to use different words to describe the situation.

Karena/gara-gara dia temannya jadi mati/terbunuh

Dia dapat/bisa (managed to) memperbaikan kolam renangnya

Telpon/pangil dia dan suruh dia tulis surat

Mereka akan dapat kesukaran/problem

You will need to break down the meaning of it in the sentence. I don't think there is one-to-one translation for "get" (even when you google it, get has so many meanings).

To show the cause of some action: we often use "gara-gara", "karena", and for the verb we add "ter-" (passive).
He got his friend killed. => "Temannya terbunuh gara-gara dia."

To show that something is done by someone else: "di-i".
He got his pool fixed. => "Kolam renangnya sudah diperbaiki orang (or put the person/company who fixed it)."

To give the sense of "to make sure / push someone to do something": "pastikan"
Call her and get her to write a letter. => "Hubungi dan pastikan dia menulis surat!"

They are going to get themselves in trouble. => "Mereka akan berada dalam masalah (gara-gara kesalahan mereka sendiri)."
