Hello everybody!

I would like to express something that makes me feel really uncomfortable now. I've been navigating on this website after long period since the last time I was here, I guess one year or more, anyway, the fact is I am really disappointed about the way some people here are supposed to help each other, and I mean people here in Brazil, my country are responding penpals like "brigadão", "tamo ai" and other wrong words like that. How can people learn a foreing language with that? Obviously people learn slangs and expressions which them are not grammatically correct, but when you intend to correct an exercise let's bear in mind on the other side there is someone waiting for the best. This means respect. I feel sorry for that because there is no much websites like that and we should take advantage of it. Let's review our concepts and take the slangs only whatsapp and so on. Feel free to correct my mistakes. I'll really appreciate it. Thanks.

"tamo ai" and other wrong/non-standard words like that. (I don't like to call slang "wrong" because it sounds too moralistic. That's just my personal opinion). How can people learn a foreing foreign language with like that? Obviously people learn slangs and expressions which them are not grammatically correct, but when you intend to correct an exercise let's bear in mind on the other side there is someone waiting for expecting the best. This means is just respect.I feel sorry for that this is a shame because there is no are not much many websites like that this one and we should take advantage of it

I completely agree! I have no problem with slang when used in the right place, and italki is definitely not the right place. Fortunately, I don't feel this is a problem in the English section. I've never seen an English speaker write words like "amirite?" or "ya know?"

I am with you Claudia. We do need respect on this website. And it is such a sweet place where people help and inspire each other :)

I feel sorry for what you got through. But I have never been there where you were. So my feeling about this website is quite the contrary to yours. People here are really helpful as you can see the way Alan helped you. Also they're very witty and smart. They could always give you informative answers to help you get improved. If things don't go that way, I suggest you to change your method of communication or change a partner. But this website is really helpful if you use it well, trust me on this.
