Hi Nhung.

I'm from Brazil and I love meat.

Here we eat many kinds of meat specially beef, pork and chicken. We appreciate goat meat (lamb/mutton) as well.

There are two exotic kinds of meat that I've tasted, at least once, and I liked it: lizard and capybara

In our culture is not common to eat dogs, does it taste like another meat?

It seems that Chinese people are  looked as omnivores more than other countries in some viewers. We have different races and religions, and various culture and foods because it is too large from width to length. Normally, we eat most kind of domesticated animal meat including pork, beef, lamb, chicken, ducks and fish without any special routines. And some Chinese-Koreans who has kept their dogs  foods habit in dishes all the time but seldom in private house actually, and also to the local inhabitants of Guangxi.  In some southern areas ,as I know, many people eat rats, snakes and also insects seized from wild forest ,although it is not comfortable from our eyes. Apart from this point, I am very weird why and when people prefer donkey too much in a few places, while not horse. There is even one proverb, "The sky dragon meat, and donkey meat on the ground" ,to describe donkey foods. Certainly I never wish to taste horse just as western friends regard dogs as human friends. Before 1990s, birds were shot a lot if you had guns or arm captured till national laws carried out update version. But ironically, pigeons behalf of peace always could be seen in some restaurants of each city, which is also felt potentially hazard of being infected by Bird-Flu.

Pork, beef and chicken are the most common. Different kinds of fish follow closely and turkey is common too. Lamb, goat, rabbit and duck are more expensive and considered a delicacy, as well as some wild animals such as dear.  Horse meat is not popular, as it is expensive and doesn't taste that well either, but it is eaten, and it is even routinely recommended by doctors to help with iron deficiency. We don't eat dogs, cats, frogs, snails, insects or reptiles. Many people are not very open minded when it comes to food and will even look down on others for eating kinds of meat that we don't.

Continuing, in the United States, we eat a lot of fish and seafood, but it is not as universally liked. As with meat, we prefer large fish that can be cut into a large piece that it is not too obviously fish-shaped, and we do not like to see a fish head, fins, or tail on our plate.

Shellfish (lobster, shrimp, crayfish, crabs, clams, oysters) are eaten by a lot of people, but many people dislike them, in part because they remind people of insects. Oysters and clams are "slimy" or "slippery." They are also expensive. And they are prohibited by the dietary laws of some religions.

One measure of popularity is: what kind of thing are served at McDonald's (or other fast food chains?) The answer is: beef, chicken, and fish.

Another measure is the food chosen for large, catered gatherings--for example, if you are planning a wedding reception. You have to settle on a small number of dishes, but you have to have choices that "everyone can eat."

The "safe" choice is always chicken. It's practically a joke. There's always chicken. Politicians and other people who attend lots of big catered gatherings talk about being on "the rubber chicken circuit," because chicken is always served, and often it gets "rubbery" in texture when poorly cooked.

Roast beef will often be a second choice, because many people like it and it's more expensive and luxurious than chicken. A third choice has to be acceptable to vegetarians, and it might be fish (salmon, perhaps, or breaded cod), or it might be a meatless pasta dish. Pork (also called ham) would never be served, because of the possibility of offending people with religious dietary restrictions; many Jews and Muslims are willing to depart from strict observance when they are part of a large social gathering, but actually having pork on the banquet table would really bother them.
