What is your thought about : 30 minute class on iltaki ?

Hi, I personally prefer to have 30 min class everyday instead of 1 hour every other day . I know there is a trial session but the point is you can't take more than one time with one teacher . It could be more affordable meanwhile you can have class everyday, and honestly after took bunch of class with lots of teacher i figured out after half hour of class you  suck in less materials. If you agree give "up-vote"  so we can do sart doing something about it , or maybe there is cons which ignored it .

For instance with 150$ i could have 30 days class in half hour, but that would be 300$ for 1 hour class

I understand the advantages of half hour classes for some students and teachers. This option already exists on italki. In fact, I offer half-hour classes — at a price. The thing is, it can be rather inconvenient for the teacher. For me, teaching is natural, but the logistics of showing up and making sure a new student shows up are not my cup of tea. As far as students’ getting bored in class — a teacher who actually knows how to teach and has an interesting lesson never has that problem. I'm happy to say that my regular students often book two hours back to back, and the time just flies. Oh, one more word of advice: "Coffee" ;)

Except for the rare case of a student taking daily, short lessons, students don't learn much and teachers don't earn much.

In my private tutoring, in my city, I refuse to do 30-minute lessons.  After a 15-minute warmup (for the brain to change languages), there's not much time left to learn and practice new skills.

For my students, 60-minute and 90-minute lessons of mixed conversation, pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar are highly effective.  For my advanced students, conversation lessons are effective.

For on-line tutoring, I briefly worked for a company that insisted on (useless) 15- and 30-minute lessons.  It was a bit of a fraud.  The children and teenagers didn't learn much but the parents could tell other parents that their children were taking English lessons with a native speaker.

Now, I only give 60- and 90-minute lessons.

I'm an italki English teacher and I can imagine that a 30-minute lesson could be quite helpful.

30-minute Trial lessons are not the solution:

from italki support:
When you first register you are given 3 trial lessons.
You can use 1 trial lesson per teacher, and you can use them whenever you’d like.
You do not need to use them all at once, trial lessons do not expire.

How to book 30-minute lessons:

I can think of only two ways that you could schedule a 30-minute lesson:

1   Book a one-hour session on Monday / have the 30-minute session / then have the second 30 minutes on Tuesday or Wednesday or whatever other day you prefer.  This means that you pay for a one hour lesson then schedule two 30-minute sessions on two days agreed on between the teacher and the student.

2   Instant Tutoring:  In a discussion with the teacher, the student will identify the days and times that are convenient for the student. Then the teacher will not accept other requests from other students at those times.  The teacher will click on/activate the Instant Tutoring one minute before the scheduled lesson and the student will click on the Instant Tutoring link to connect with the teacher. Instant tutoring sessions are always 30 minutes long and a student can use the Instant Tutoring option an unlimited number of times.

Hope this helps...

Richard, they say Einstein used to get lost on his way home from Princeton University. Luckily, everyone else in town knew where he lived, and could give him directions ;)

Oh, Phil...

Guess how many times I may have seen that very same teacher settings page...

Good grief... it's a wonder I can find my way home at the end of the day J

Thank you for your helpful response
