Polyglots? I'm an aspiring polyglot, and I'd like to connect with and become friends with others who have that same aspiration. Even if we aren't learning the same languages, I think it'd be cool to be surrounded by inspiration and people with similar goals.

@Miriam Polyglots are simply people who speak several languages for whatever reason they have for being able to do so. I think we should give everyone a chance to talk about their language-learning experience before we label them, yes, but I don't have anything against the term itself.

What does it mean to you to be an aspiring polyglot? I'm an avid language learner, like to connect with other language enthusiasts and am conversational in six languages but I somehow don't like the label "polyglot" and don't identify as such because I dislike several of the so-called internet polyglots.

@Michael Abercrombie Hi! I honestly don't even know if I'm doing things correctly myself. I'm not an expert, but I do have to say that input is extremely important. Create time for the language you're learning and incorporate it into your daily life so that learning the language isn't so much as a chore. I like to listen to music and watch Youtube videos in my target language. I do a lot of mimicking, and I've noticed it helps with pattern-creation and pronunciation as well.

It'd be nice if y'all actually asked me about my language learning experience thus far instead of making assumptions :)

@Learner SC Actually, that's not the case. I use the term because it's a term that connects people that happen to speak several languages and it shortens what I have to say. I grew up bilingual and learned two languages by myself before knowing anything about the language learning community or the hype around polyglots. Like I've said before, it's just a word that describes people that know a certain number of languages. That's all that it means to me. Communication is my main goal.
