I believe that questionnaires are a terrible way to obtain information.  I answered the open ended discussion topic because I think this is a better way to obtain useful information.  Additionally, I believe that standardized tests such as the SAT breed students who are adept at scoring well on those types of tests.  Here in my home state of Virginia, we have sets of Standards of Learning assessments that make life seem as though the solution to any question is to eliminate constructed wrong answers. 

I am studying formal Arabic in order to understand what Arabic news media has to say or write about people and events. Translation often includes cultural bias. Concurrent with the vocabulary and grammar, I am studying the culture including majority and minority religions. A drawback to my approach is that I do cannot understand social media of my friends because they use a variety of local languages.  

Can I just correct your English perhaps? Just for learning and teaching.

What is motivation for learning a language?

I'm doing a group project in (at) the university to figure out the motivation in (for) language learning.

In order to do that, I have to make a questionnaire for a survey.

Please suggest to me what kind of questions I should ask to people in order to figure out the motivation in language learning. ~~

By the way, I see you are Korean. I studied Korean for half a year when I worked for a Korean company in Deagu. I have forgotten it a little now though, since I have another job.

The language you are presently learning, is that your second, third, fourth, fifth, or sixth foreign language?

Does(Do) the language(s) you are presently learning use the same alphabet as your native language?

How much time do you spend learning the language(s)?

Do you have friends or relatives that speak the language as their native tongue?

How would you decribe the employment situation in the countries where the language is spoken, which you are presently studying?

How would you describe .... in your native country?

Do you hope to have chances to immigrate, knowing this language?

Do you hope to have better chances in the job market by learning this language?

I think planed interview will be better, here I am writing some type of questions.

1. are you learning any other language?

2. what laguage you are learning?

3. why you are learning other language?

4. how much you are commited with it?

5. Is it easy for you to learn?

6. what resources you are using for learning?

7. which resource is best for your learning?

8. what is the limitations in your language learning?

9. can you speak this laguage at native level?

10. how much you will rank yourself on scale 1-10?

etc
