may i just can say, in learning something especially in languages you need one or more friends to know how fluent you are in a language you learn about.. i think its hard to learn language by your ownselve for you dont know with whom you will talk..

except you want to learn like science you can stand alone in your lab without hear any voice that can disturb you,,

so it depends what subject you will learn, some subject need friend and some nope..

I prefer to study on my own too because studying in group would make some kind of distraction due to the increased distracting factors.
But sometimes studying in a group would force you to study harder than studying alone, aslo it would be helpful in case if you needed somebody's help with some thing in your lessons and vice versa.

I prefer to enhance my speaking skill by groups , while , I also require more time to sophisticate my writing on my own . As for listening or reading , you can do it by yourself as far as I know . You are impossible to learn all alone or all by groups . You had better take advantage of either side .
