Do you where the french word " Daltonien " come from ?

Hello everyone !

Today I show you my new video about the word " Daltonien " , " Colorblind " in English. Did you know that it comes from " John Dalton " , the man who discovered it because he was colorblind himself ?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-R5F_v8TW0&feature=youtu.be

I was surprised that the french language has kept the name of the man to call the disease and the english one hasn't. Have you ever seen such a situation ?

Don't hesitate to let me know what you think about my video and my english, I'd be thankful :)

I found this really interesting! I remember when I was a student of science, we learnt a lot about Dalton's theories and work in chemistry.  Before now I had no idea that John Dalton was colourblind and that he made contributions in this particular field of science.  Very interesting to know that French uses the word "Daltonisme" to mean colourblindness.  Wikipedia tells me that "Daltonism" is also an English word to describe colourblindness but I had never ever heard this word !

I'm glad to have learnt a new word in both English and French today... :)
