My attitude to work Since I graduated from college, I have been working for a financial company for more than three years. There are many things I have learned at work, but I came to think that it is time for me to find a new job and move forward. There are some reasons for this, but the major reason is that my attitude to work has changed. When I was in college and looking for my first job, my top priority was money. I wanted to make money as quick as I could. Of course I felt it was always better to get a job that I really liked, but l still believed that the more money I make, the happier I feel. Therefore, I spent a lot of time looking into companies and joined the one that I thought would be the best to make money. Indeed, when I got this job and saw my starting salary, I was so happy to find that I would be making almost twice as much money as other freshmen. I felt like I was smarter than my friends and superior to them. But after a while, I came to realize that it is not as important as I was thinking. It is just a temporary thing. I noticed making money makes me feel happier at this moment, but it doesn’t mean it guarantees my successful life in the future. If I want to be happy achieving financial security throughout my life, I have to acquire meaningful skills. Salary comes second. So I started questioning if my current job helps me build my carrier and acquire specialized skills. I compared all of my possible future careers I could achieve, and it really made me feel I should change the current situation to excel my skills. Changing career is like getting out of the comfort zone. It is scary but exciting. I am now ready to move forward my life.
