The Optimist The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist - the hole. There is a story of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. The other twin was a hopeless pessimist. At school the optimist did much better than his twin brother, who was always sad and jealous. The worried parents of the boys brought them to the psychologist. He thought of a plan to balance the twins' personalities. He advised the parents to give the pessimists the best, the optimist the worst presents for their next birthday. The parents followed these instructions. When in the morning they looked into the pessimist's room they heard him saying: "I don't like the colour of this computer... I hate this game... I know someone who's got a bigger toy car than this..." The little optimist, anyhow, was happily looking through his pile of old torn magazines, laughing and saying: "That's exactly what I have always wanted to read!" So, what do you think about this story? Who are you: optimist or pessimist? Is it the best way possible to live on a sunny side of life or to find faults in everything you do? Shear your opinions :)

The Optimist

The optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist - the hole.
There is a story about a pair of identical twins. One was a hope-filled optimist. The other twin was a hopeless pessimist. At school the optimist did much better than his twin brother, who was always sad and jealous.
The worried parents of the boys brought them to the psychologist. He thought of a plan to balance the twins' personalities. He advised the parents to give the pessimists the best, and the optimist the worst presents for their next birthday. The parents followed these instructions.
When they looked into the pessimist's room the next morning, they heard him saying, "I don't like the colour of this computer... I hate this game... I know someone who's got a bigger toy car than this..."
The little optimist, anyhow, was happily looking through his pile of old torn magazines, laughing and saying: "That's exactly what I have always wanted to read!"

So, what do you think about this story? Which are you: an optimist or a pessimist? Is it the best way possible to live on the sunny side of life, or to find faults in everything you do?

Although this does look like a native speaker's work, I cleaned up a couple of sentences and style points which looked jumbled. For example, identical twins could mean in the general sense, not two brothers. When in the morning is also a little clumsy. The comma in the sentence He advised the parents... is an error: it cuts the sentence in half.

I heard a different version, where the optimist received a pile of horse manure. He was digging through it, whooping with joy and saying, "With all this sh*t, there must be a horse in here somewhere!!" :D

"He advised the parents to give the pessimists the best, the optimist the worst presents for their next birthday"

should have been pessimist since there is only one son who is a pessimist

the pessimist the best

the optimist the best

'the' is used for two nouns back to back which shouldn't be done

You cannot say ,"Let's hope for the President the best".Instead it should be ,"Let's hope for President the best".

Did you get it ?

The little optimist, anyhow, was happily looking - anyhow here means that he was looking happily half heartedly, which he wasn't because he is an optimist. You use the word 'however' to contradict the nature of previous sentence.

And finally share since it was a spelling mistake (It was typed shear)
