When I think of Western representations of China, what comes to mind are some figures in movies which describe China in western ways. (The sentence is becoming too long) The movies, such as The Last Emperor, reflects a general idea about China's weakness and paleness through the characters.

My reason for taking this class is that the subject attracted me, and also the foreign lecturers too, and I think this is a good opportunity to study English.

In this class, I would like to read some books about religion, because there are so many people believe that Chinese have no faith or they don't have some belief in god throughout their life. Best through films, I hope.  (I don't understand what you're trying to say here)
