Fortune and Success

It cannot be denied that money and possessions are crucial in people’s life. Many people focus their efforts in making money and buying items. This is why the rich are widely believed to be winners in the competition. In addition, money and expensive items can buy virtually everything in this world, from everyday items to even respect, political connections and power in some countries. Definitely, they are bound to succeed, on average.

However, it must be pointed out that these are not the only things necessary for success. There are numerous examples of some poor people who manage to live a life as happy as the rich despite their inferior living standard. Undoubtedly, they are winners in the pursuit of happiness. Moreover, many successful people successful in their careers, such as scientific research and politics, are not necessarily rich either. For example Marry Curie, a great scientist, was not rich. In fact, she did not even pay attention to her possessions and gave her costly gold Nobel medal to children as a toy. Another example is a former American governor, who had become rich through acting. However, he sacrificed the opportunity to earn money for his success in politics. He is still among the most successful politicians.

In the world where materialists are ubiquitous, I strongly hold that success is a complex issue. There are many ways to measure a person’s level of success.
