私のなまえはキャサリンでとアメリカ人のです。私は小学校で教え始めて育の私の3年目に入っています(or 3年目です)。私はランニングが好きです(or word-by-word translations is 私のしゅみはランニングです)。

My name is Catherine and I am an American. I am in my 3rd year of teaching elementary school. My hobby is running.

*"and" has varias translations and と is mainly used "noun and noun". 

*American people = アメリカ人, American (adj.) = アメリカの,

Ex.) American English = アメリカ英語[えいご]、アメリカの英語

Great job! Please enjoy learning. I think sometimes there are cases that the direct translation doesn't sound natural and we have to add, get or change the word when we translate sentences. I hope this helps you.
