About myself

My name is Alex and I was born in a small town in Russia. After 27 years I moved to the US
and am now looking for a job. In Russia I worked as a software engineer. I have been here since November and like America very much. I like americans because they are very nice and friendly.
Of course I have trouble speaking/understanding English and unfortunately I don't have any/many friends here. 
Now I need to practice and improve my English, but i don't know how.
Maybe you can help me? :)
