6 expressions you'll hear a lot in the Arab world. In this short entry, I'll give 6 common expressions used a lot by the arabs, and you should learn them as well to sound like a native. 1- اِن شَاءَ الله (insha allah) / بِحَوْلِ الله (be-hawl allah) / بِاِذْنِ الله (be-ithn allah) They share the same meaning "If God wills it" These expression are used when discussing future plans. e.g : I'll travel to France next year, inshallah سَأُسافِرُ الى فِرَنْسا في السَّنَة القادِمَة اِنْ شاءَ الله. 2- مَا شَاءَ الله (ma-sha allah) When you see something very beautiful, very attracting, instead of saying "How wonderul !" or "How beautiful", arabs tend to say مَا شَاءَ الله 3- تَبَارَكَ الله (tabaraka allah) it's used for to congratulate someone on accomplishments, achievements, or other happy events. e.g : when someone graduated from school, you say تبارك الله when you see someone's child after a long time, and see him/her grown up, you say تبارك الله, you became a man / lady. (you can use مَا شَاءَ الله as well) 4- الحَمْدُ لله (al-hamdu lillah) It means "thank God" e.g : when you finish a meal you say الحَمْدُ لله (to show that you're full) You may have noticed the presence of the world Allah in these expressions, that's true, thay're religious expression due to the influence of Islam in the Arabe world, but doesn't mean only muslims use these expressions, like I said, they're commonly used even in the monotheist religions. Arabs will be so glad when they hear a foreigner use these expressions, so what are you waiting for ? start using them and be like a native !

Thank you Sleem for posting this. Being in the US it's so hard to find native Arabic speakers. I really appreciate you posting the phrases and the explanations to them. Thanks again. :) I hope you post more in the future.
