The table shows how these causes affected three regions of the world during in 1990s. Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My notebook entry: The pie chart reveals the main causes of the decrease in productivity of agricultural land in the world. Over-grazing is the primary reason to this phenomenon, which constitutes 35 percent of the farm degradation. Deforestation and over-cultivation also have considerable impact on it, the percentage of them are 30 percent and 28 percent, separately. The rest is caused by other factors. The table below shows the data regarding causes of land degradation in three different regions during the 1990s. Europe ranked first by its 23 percent total land degraded, which was made up of 9.8 percent deforestation, 7.7 percent over-cultivation and 5.5 percent over-grazing. Oceania followed Europe with its 13 percent total land degradation, which was mainly caused by over-grazing (13%). By contrast, North America had the least total land degradation (5%) and over-cultivation (3.3%) consumed the largest portion of it. In conclusion, it is clear that the land degradation in Europe was severer than other places and over-grazing take up a large proportion in the degradation.
