Lies and excuses I don´t really like telling lies. I try to avoid them, but in occasions I tell a white lie. For example, when I was late, I sometimes blame the intense traffic and it´s not always true. But I can remember some curious excuses from friends, schoolmates or workmates. In one occasion, one schoolmate told the teacher that he couldn´t deliver the homework because his mother put it in the washing machine. Months later, the same boy told the teacher that your dog ate his homework. In another occasion, a man who had to send several documents to a group of people, when I asked for them after months waiting, he told us that he was going to send us the documents right that day, but his computer broke down. What a coincidence! I could hear some excuses at work too. One workmate who was very lazy used to use the excuse that he couldn´t finish his job because people didn´t answer his calls. Reality was very different. But the prize for telling lies and looking for excuses is for another workmate who was always telling excuses not to do his job. He often had some of his children or wife sick, he frequently went to the doctor because he didn´t feel well, or he lost his contact lenses, or he was hurt, or he had to go with some neighbour or acquaintance to help them... He always had an excuse not to work. He was really unreliable and a very bad coworker.
