Composition of lesson 3 of book 3 of New Concept English After walking round the ancient city, the archaeologists became more and more quiet even if they felt inside more and more excited with what they saw.This temple seemed so old that they can not tell the period easily.But it was easy to find that it was used as a place of worship.On entering the sacred room, the archaeologists did not find anything special but found that the ground was not as natural as usual.They stopped and checked the ground with the machines they took.After this, workmen began digging and soon discovered some clay fragments. The first gragment seemed like an arm of human, which made archaeologisted very excited. They also found some commodities. The archaeologists carefully took the fragments out of the ground and worked together to reconstruct the body parts.They were astonished to find that the fragments the reconstructed turn out to be goddess.The goddess was 3 feet high and resting her hands on her hips.She was around fifty years old and was wearing a full-length skirt which swept the ground.She stood there very gracefully. Although the archaeologists succeded in rebuilt the statu, they were unable to find out her name.
