Some people use it when it is not necessary, for example, "I just didn't feel like it," or, "I just ate one piece of candy, Mom!" In that sense, it is kind of like an excuse and doesn't really have a lot of meaning.

You would use the word just to show that you recently completed something. (Like acobo de) For example, I just washed the car. Or you can use it to say something is/is not fair. For example, The sentence he received was just. Hope this helps
