"As such" can mean a few things depending upon how it's used. 1) "We felt like outsiders and were treated as such." [here "as such" means "that way" in other words, "... and we were treated as outsiders."] 2) "It's not a final agreement as such, but it looks promising." [here "as such" means "exactly", in other words "it's not exactly a final agreement"] 3) "As such, he can be strongly recommended." ["As such" at the beginning of a sentence refers to what came before. By itself it does not make much sense. You need to see it in context. So: "He has helped us many times in the past. As such, he can be strongly recommended." In other words, "He can be recommended because he has helped us many times in the past."]

The meanings everyone has shared are correct. Just note that people often use "as such" to mean "therefore", but Oxford and other dictionaries don't list this meaning, so it's, in my opinion, incorrect usage. That said, languages evolve and dictionaries keep getting updated with new meanings. So, maybe, one day, who knows, dictionaries will include this meaning as well.

That means in the exact sense of the word. "It is possible to stay overnight here although there is no guest house as such" You can also use "as such" with a negative to indicate that a word or expression is not a very accurate description of the actual situation. "I am not a learner as such." "Mark joined as an office boy with no academic qualifications as such." "There is no rudder as such, so the craft can be steered only when under power. " :)
