What's a participle??? Have you ever wondered what a participle actually is? Let me explain it to you in a simple way: A participle is just a form of a verb. It is actually the verb in the third form (present: eat. past: ate, participle: eaten).  Present participles are formed by adding "ing" at the end of the verb and function as adjectives in a sentence. For example, I really like the dancing doll. "Dancing" is describing the noun doll. Past participles do the same but end with "ed" on most verbs. Sometimes they have a different ending. For example, the broken glass cut my foot. "Broken" is an irregular verb and is describing the noun glass. Then we have perfect participles and they indicate a completed action. Participles can be quite difficult to understand at times but once you learn how to use, you will become a much better writer!
