Hi please help. First of all. We have this amazing science lab. It's like a mini NASA. What's " this "in this sentence?. It " we have amazing science lab. Pointing or telling to them?

An article is necessary. Both ‘this’ and ‘an’ are possible and similar. ‘This’ is more colloquial and makes the lab sound closer and more important. It moves the focus of the sentence towards the lab.
