一口に「あか」といっても、日本には様々な「あか」色があります。たとえば日本の神社にある鳥居は朱色（しゅいろ）です。印鑑も朱色です。実際に色見本などを見ればその違いが分かると思います。

You can consider 赤, 紅, and 朱 are all subordinate(more specific) concepts in the superordinate(higher) concept あか. The differences are as everyone explains. Each of them carries different images, as well.
