I checked, and both are used. However...
"a tiny group of people drink..." - "they (people) drink" is your meaning here.
"a tiny group of people drinks..." - "the group (it) drinks" is the meaning. For clarity, it should be written as "one tiny group..."
Two more problems with your sentences...
- The second comma should not be there at all. You've cut up the sentence and it actually stops making sense with that extra comma after "people".
- "Chai Tea" only makes sense of you mean a marketed brand by one company, called by that name. If you mean the general product, then no capital letters: "chai tea".

Though they both may be correct, I would hear the s of drinks and believe I was hearing something incorrect. Here are the ways it will be natural:
People in this group drink
this group of people drink
Everyone in the group drinks
The group drinks
All those in the group drink
Most of the group drinks
Most in the group drink
Most of the people in the group drink
Anyone in the group drinks

I would say both are correct:)
