Do 'were displaced' and 'were expelled' mean the same thing in the below sentences? 1.In Europe alone thirty million people were displaced. 2.In Europe alone thirty million people were expelled.*on the below sentences?I did not asked for definitions of two words. The reason why I'm asking here is I already looked them up in a dictionary and was wondering their similarities. I need some explanation on two sentences with similarity or difference between two words, or how they look different or unnatural.*ask for

yea, you are absolutely right the meaning of both the sentence is same in the sense thirty million people were moved from one place to another place. whether it is usual or by forcing doesn't matter.

displaced - moved from one place to another expel - forced out of one place take note of the verbs- 'force' is to move without want, 'move' just to relocate regardless of want or not

'Displaced' and 'expelled' means two different things: 1. Displace is to cause something to move from its usual place; 2. Expel is to force someone out of a country (in the example used above).
